Each month, we’d like to spotlight some of our specialists or one of our clients so that you can get to know us a bit better. We’ll kickoff this PDM Spotlight series with our content writers! The content writers are responsible for writing the content on webpages, blogs, city pages, recent projects, and more.

The Writing Team

Sydnie Howarth

For most of her life, Sydnie Howarth has been fascinated with writing, creating and entrepreneurship. After graduating from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sydnie discovered blogging and SEO marketing. She is a content writer with a passion for making processes more efficient. She also has several Google Ads and Google Analytics certifications and a personal blog.

In her free time, Sydnie enjoys playing basketball, listening to alternative rock and indie music, and trying new ice cream shops. She also loves the outdoors, spending time with her family and reading literary fiction.

Sarah Masek

writingSarah Masek studied sociology and criminology at the University of Utah. She’s always liked writing and editing, and has worked as an alpha reader and a beta reader for casual writers and published authors alike. After an internship with the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault, she learned that she liked coming up with content for campaigns. That, combined with writing articles in her university years, led her to discover content writing as a career path.

Outside of work, she writes futuristic fantasy books and spends time with her horse. She also draws, paints, reads tons of fantasy, sci-fi, and romance novels, and goes to the gym.

Emily States

Emily StatesEmily States’ passion for content creation can be traced back to avant garde scribbles on the walls in red and blue Crayola. As her writing style has improved, she has taken to each new discipline with an insatiable desire to learn all the things, dive in, and see a job done well. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, growing E. coli in the lab and later quality testing pharmaceuticals. However, while working in a lab coat will always hold an appeal of its own, Emily has discovered that her true passion lies more in the pen than in the pipette.

She drinks hot cocoa in July, champions Christie over Conan Doyle, and prefers Mondays to Fridays. When not typing away at a webpage, Emily loves traveling, performing on stage, painting, reading, and—shockingly enough—writing.

MarisaMarisa Nelson

She is a recent graduate of Weber State University with a Bachelor’s in Communication. She didn’t think that she would end up as a writer; her dream was always to do something creative. She thinks when she found Journalism and Communication, it was the perfect mix of writing, listening, and creativity that she needed. She currently lived in Brigham City with her husband, Taylor. She loves writing, reading, watercolor painting, traveling, and spending time with family.

Meet The Writers

1) What inspired you to pursue a career as a writer?

SYDNIE: For much of my life I have loved writing and expressing my feelings and thoughts through the written word. The little girl keeping a journal and writing short stories would be proud to see where we’ve gotten.

SARAH: I’ve always loved writing, ever since I was a kid hand-writing stories in notebooks, then writing fanfiction online, to then writing articles during university and working on my own books to get published. It’s fun, I’m good at it, and I love being able to learn with everything we do here.

EMILY: I just really love piecing words together in writing. I love the freedom to organize thoughts deliberately as you can through writing that is just not possible through spoken word. I also love watching stories take place as happens when I really get going.

MARISA: Having social anxiety for a majority of my life, writing my thoughts and dreams down was a way to express myself. I honestly never thought I would pursue writing as a career, but now there is nowhere else I would rather be. I have loved getting to talk with people and make connections through writing so I think that is the main reason I choose to pursue it.

2) What is your favorite part of this job?

SYDNIE: My favorite part of this job is getting to learn about and research a wide variety of topics.

SARAH: Being able to learn and the diversity of the projects we do. Everything has its appeal, from webpages to city pages to blogs. The environment here is wonderful too. Everyone works together and helps each other out.

EMILY: I love learning about the many different things we get to write about. The variety is a veritable feast.

MARISA: My favorite part (so far) is the variety of topics and clients that I get to write about! As well as all the people who have been so encouraging and helpful to me as I am learning.

3) What are your hobbies? What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

SYDNIE: I love basketball and reading. Much of my time is spent at the gym and spending time with family and friends.

SARAH: I love spending time with my horse, working on my books, drawing, painting, reading, and going to the gym. I don’t do them much, but I also love kickboxing, ballet, and archery.

EMILY: I really love traveling (and planning travel). I love performing, especially musical theatre. Then there’s painting, making clothes, game nights and nights around the fire, martial arts, reading, and watching black and white movies.

MARISA: I love to read and paint with watercolor! I also am addicted to sweets and love to make soda or ice cream runs with my husband or sister.

4) Have you read any books or seen any movies/shows lately that you’d recommend?

SYDNIE: I loved the newest season of Stranger Things on Netflix. A cinematic masterpiece if a show can be a cinematic masterpiece I also recently liked the book Warcross.

SARAH: I recently finished The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah, which was such a fun adventure with fantastic character dynamics. Sense8 on Netflix is an incredible show with beautiful cinematography and a unique storyline.

EMILY: I recently reread The Scarlet Pimpernel, and it gets better with each read. I also love the 1982 movie.

MARISA: Pivot Point by Kasie West was a book I finished recently that was way better than I expected! I also just finished Emily In Paris on Netflix and can’t wait for the next season.

5) What are your favorite productivity hacks? How do you stay focused?

SYDNIE: Focus has always been a difficult thing for me. I have tried setting timers, listening to different types of music, and various other things. I think the thing that’s worked best for me is being kind to myself and allowing myself to take a short break when I’m having a hard time focusing and then hitting it again. If I’m having a hard time focusing because of intrusive thoughts I’m having, I stop and write down what I’m thinking so that my brain can relax. I call this practice micro journaling.

SARAH: Getting the hard/time-consuming things out of the way in the morning, so that by the end of the day when your brain is fried, you can bust out easier tasks. I like competing with myself and seeing if I can beat my own personal times for things. As a perfectionist, there’s nothing like a ticking timer to get your brain to focus on the job at hand and get ‘er done.

EMILY: I stay focused by being aware of what my mind is capable of at each given moment. For example, if I’m really in a flow, I take advantage of that and write, write, write while I can. If I can’t muster that same kind of dedication, I devote my attention to other things that need to be done, gathering research, format articles, etc.

MARISA: This is a great question! I like to have things outside of work (hobbies, vacations, dates, etc.) that keep me balanced. I also find that staying organized and making a to-do list is helpful for me because I feel better when I can cross things off my list.

6) How do you get energized for work?

SYDNIE: A hearty breakfast and listening to upbeat music in the car.

SARAH: Energy drinks. I’ve been healthier lately, though, and turning more to green tea and smoothies with fruits that help boost energy, like apples, bananas, raspberries, etc. But the caffeine addiction is real, and I despise coffee with a burning passion. So, energy drinks and tea it is.

EMILY: I’m a very task-oriented person. The prospect of checking the box for each task I accomplish pushes me to do so.

MARISA: Thinking about new ideas on what to write helps! I have a fear of getting too comfortable and complacent with life, because I have before. So, challenging myself to find something new and try to work on my writing style each day is important to me.

7) Do you like writing with music or shows in the background or do you need quiet? If you listen to something while you write, what’s your favorite thing to listen to?

SYDNIE: I do listen to music!! That’s another thing that I love about this job. I’ve tried watching shows/videos, but I’ve found that makes it harder for me to focus. It depends on the day for what kind of music I listen to. I love listening to indie rock, upbeat pop music, alternative rock, rap occasionally, and classical music or lofi jams sometimes.

SARAH: I used to need silence, but now I listen to playlists. I usually listen to movie soundtracks and character playlists from my stories. If I’m working on posting content, I’ll put on an audiobook instead. Right now, I’m working my way through Sarah J. Maas’s Throne Of Glass series.

EMILY: I write best with no other distractions, auditory or otherwise. If my head is too cluttered, if the distractions come from within, listening to cinematic scores can help me focus my attention. Nothing with words unless I’m gathering research or formatting blogs.

MARISA: It depends on the day, but I usually listen to or watch something. I am currently rewatching New Girl for the 5th time while I work or I watch crime documentaries as I write, lol.

8) What’s something that made you smile recently?

SYDNIE: My three-year-old little cousin 🙂

SARAH: My horse always nickers and comes right over as soon as she sees me, no matter where she is. It never gets old.

EMILY: The ocean always makes me smile. Whether it be crashing surf along a rocky shore or churning waters beneath a speeding boat, there is something magical about the ocean.

MARISA: My niece just started crawling and she has the cutest giggle. We love getting to see her often and she makes us laugh.

9) What is your best piece of advice?

SYDNIE: Attitude is everything. Life can be dull and sad and difficult at times, but choosing to be kind to others and have a positive outlook can do so much for your personal happiness and peace. Taking life’s challenges a little less seriously and learning to laugh and smile when things are hard has been the greatest thing that I’ve done for myself in my adult life.

SARAH: No matter what you do, there’s someone who’s going to have an issue with it, so you may as well do what you love.

EMILY: “Your focus determines your reality.” If you look for the beautiful things of the world, you will find them. If you look for gray skies and trouble and misfortune, you will find them. If you look for magic in the little things, you will find it tucked into everything.

MARISA: Find the things that make you happy and do them. Don’t let people’s opinions or expectations stop you from living a joyful life. If you want to post videos on Tik Tok because it’s fun? Do it! Want to start a fitness page on Instagram? Do it! Want to sit at home and watch cartoons with a blanket? Do it! Life is too short to worry about the opinions of others.

10) Got any favorite quotes?

SYDNIE: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Bernard M. Baruch

SARAH: “Day One or one day: you decide.” – Paulo Coelho

“There are two kinds of people. Those who think, ‘I don’t want anyone to suffer like I did.’ And those who think, ‘I suffered; why shouldn’t they?’ Be the former.”

EMILY: “Fairy tales are more than true – not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten.” — Neil Gaiman’s misquote of G.K. Chesterton

“An artist can do nothing slovenly.”  — Jane Austen

MARISA: “Life isn’t perfect but your outfit can be.”

“Turbulent times are often opportunities to thrive.”

This is true for the most part, but creating content is also extremely important and is an ongoing process. Knowing certain writing tips may make your life much easier.

Whether you are writing a blog about the local news, blogging to create interest for your business, writing about your favorite foods, or simply using your blog as a personal journal, writing a blog can be made easy. Continue reading to learn 5 writing tips that will not only help your blogs flow better, but will make your blog and website more profitable in the long run.writing tips for new bloggers

Target Your Audience With Useful Topics

One of the most important writing tips that new bloggers should take into consideration is their target audience and the topics that they are going to write about. If you are a new blogger or business owner, you may not know where to start. Begin with topics that you are familiar with that fall under your field and fit into your blog’s category, then start branching out to topics that are less familiar to you but would be useful to your target market.

Make Use Of Search Engine Optimization

As a new blogger, understanding how to use search engine optimization is vital. Search engine optimization is the process of making your content show up higher on search engine result lists. Follow search engine optimization practices and streamline your content by using quality keywords. Check out our post about blogging using search engine optimization.

Use Images

Images are as powerful a tool for new bloggers as the writing itself. Images provide context, add variety to your blog and provide another space to optimize your content for search engines. Add at least one image to a blog post that is relevant and appealing in order to make your content more organized.

Convenience Is Key

New bloggers sometimes have the tendency to brain splat all the information that they have regarding a certain topic and then quickly upload the blog. Having so much information can stress out readers, causing them to leave your website. Instead of throwing everything on a page and submitting it, break up the text with headings, subheadings, and images, making it easier for a reader to find what information they are looking for. Also make sure your website is easy to navigate, as that will be more convenient for the reader.

Write To Be Understood

A lot of writers think that if they use big words and long, winding sentences then their writing will sound interesting and sophisticated. This way of writing misses the mark when it comes to the purpose of a blog. Blogs are meant to be informative and helpful to readers. The best way to get website visitors to stay and return to your blog is to be useful and easy to understand. Of course, it is also important to maintain the tone of your website. For example, a blog about ice cream is going to use very different words than a legal website.

Every year, content and how it intersects with web design changes. Content is king, and with how much content is out there, yours needs to be top tier in order to lure people to spend more time on your site. Web design impacts content marketing significantly, heightening the importance of truly stellar web design for an effective content marketing strategy. For the best results, you need your content and your design to work in tandem. Here’s what you need to know about some of the ways in which web design impacts content marketing.

#1. Makes Content More Accessible

web design impacts content marketing

It doesn’t matter how well-written and engaging your content is if your web design makes it hard to access. Web design impacts content marketing through making said content easily accessible with the implementation of intuitive navigation, so that people can easily click through your site without having to put in a lot of effort to try to find the pages that they’re looking for. If your users have to click through pages that have nothing to do with the information they want in order to get to said information, they’ll likely abandon your site out of frustration and irritation.

There are more and more websites being created every day – people don’t have the patience to deal with an inaccessible site. Luckily, web design impacts content marketing positively when it works with a sitemap, to make finding what you’re looking for a breeze. When web designers ensure there are menus, such as drop-down menus and hamburger menus, and search bars at the top of the site, it makes it so much easier for people to navigate through your site, causing people to spend more time on your site and be more likely to use your services.

The user experience, as always, is key. If someone finds your site through one of the pages that popped up in their Google search, you want them to be able to navigate through your site with ease from any page that they’re on, not simply the home page. Web design impacts content marketing through ensuring this.

#2. Enhances Content’s Aesthetic Appealwebsite redesign web design vs. graphic design

Have you ever clicked onto a site just to see a massive block of text and clicked right out to find another site with similar content arranged in a more aesthetically pleasing way? Looks matter a lot, which is a key way web design impacts content marketing. Content needs to be neatly spaced and presented in a tidy, easily readable manner that is consistently placed throughout the website.

A page that is well designed, with a nice font, colors that work with your brand and on the eyes, that uses white space well, that is aligned neatly – these are all ways that content’s made easier to read. The simpler the better. People don’t want to have to scroll and scroll and scroll to try to find the information they want. Web design impacts content marketing by designing pages that are cohesive, neat, and organized clearly, so people can instantly find the information they’re looking for.

#3. Engages Readers

This way web design impacts content marketing goes hand in hand with the above point. It’s fine to read a page that is organized well, and that’s it. But a well-designed page that makes use of visual elements such as pictures and videos and graphs and the like? That makes the content more interesting and gives readers something to engage with. It’s all well and good to talk about how to fix a plumbing problem, but when you include images and videos, it makes that information really sink in and makes it so much easier to understand.

The more engaged your reader is with your content, the more effective your content marketing will be. Web design allows you to work with visual elements to enhance your content, break complex information down further into something easy to understand by someone who has no knowledge of your industry, and increases the likelihood that someone will work with your business.

#4. Enriches The Reading ExperienceeCommerce Website Design

Web design impacts content marketing too, with how it enriches the overall reading experience, both through the ways listed above, and through the colors and fonts used on the site. If your fonts and colors are all over the place, it makes your site look jumbled and disorganized and unprofessional.

Colors and fonts that are consistent across your site and that fit with your brand and your industry can make your site that much more readable. You want your font color to complement your background color. A good contrasting color, plain and easy to read fonts, and consistency across your site will make your site that much more professional and easy to navigate.

These are but a few of the ways in which web design impacts content marketing. As you can see, it’s vital to have a good web design in order to ensure the effectiveness of your content marketing strategy. Performance Driven Marketing has several professional web designers in house who can create a beautiful, functional website for your business that will take your content marketing to the next level. If you’re dipping your toes into the world of marketing to launch and better promote your brand and your business, you’ve probably heard the term “SEO” bandied about. SEO is one of the key fundamentals of online marketing, so if you want to grow your business, implementing the current SEO strategies is one of the best ways to do so. Here, we’ve broken down some of the basics of SEO to get you started on your journey.

What Is SEO?seo

SEO is short for “search engine optimization”. This refers to the process of optimizing your website to rank better on search engines, such as Google. When people search for a keyword, such as ‘low back pain from shoveling snow’, by utilizing SEO practices, you can get your page or article about that to show up in the first few pages of Google search results. At its core, SEO is how you increase the visibility of your website.

SEO isn’t purely about optimizing your website, though. It also involves other aspects of digital marketing, from the user experience, to web development, to the design of the content, to your branding, to content marketing, and much, much more. Thus, in order to have a high-ranking site in the search engines, you need to have excellent digital marketing practices as a whole, in addition to SEO expertise.

How Google Ranks Content

Google ranks your content in multiple ways, and to be successful at SEO, you’ll need to understand how this works. In order to rank well, you’ll need high-quality, original, and relevant information on your site’s pages that relate to what the searcher looked up. Google determines how relevant your content is through having “crawlers” evaluate it based on the keywords (like ‘low back pain’) within the page and whether or not the majority of the page’s content is just copy and pasted from another site or if it’s something quality and new.

Quality is also determined by how many sites link to your own, and the quality of those sites. If a reputable website links to yours, this will tell Google that your content is high quality and relevant. If a little personal blog that no other site has linked to links to yours, this won’t help your rankings. You’ll want links within your content too, to prove it can be trusted. These include .govs, .edus, and .orgs.

How long people stay on your site will also inform Google how relevant it is to the search result, as will how quickly your site loads and whether or not it is mobile friendly. The way Google ranks content is ever-changing, though, so in order to maintain a high-ranking in search results, you’ll need to stay on top of new and emerging tactics.

How To Build Your SEO Strategy

There are several key steps that you can take to build an effective SEO strategy. They are as follows:

  • Create your list of keywords
  • Study Google’s first page – what are the highest ranking results doing?
  • Create something new, better, and/or different from what’s already out there
  • Add a hook, which is why people link to specific types of content
  • Optimize your on-page SEO (keywords, internal, and external links)
  • Optimize for searchers (make sure it matches search intent)
  • Up your content design with pictures, graphics, charts, banners, and more, so it’s more interesting to look at and easier to read and understand
  • Audit your site
  • Be continuously improving and updating your content to meet current SEO standards

Keeping Up With Changing SEO Standards

Something that frustrates even the professionals is how SEO is an ever-changing practice that you need to stay on top of in order to continue seeing good results. What got your site to the first page of Google searches years ago will make it practically invisible now. Search engines are constantly changing their algorithms which means that you need to be learning constantly and stay on top of all the latest changes. SEO is complex enough already, the last thing you need is to complicate it even more through utilizing strategies that no longer work. Staying informed will help you know what tactics to add to your strategy and what to toss.

Keeping up with changing SEO standards can feel like a never-ending race because it is. In order to stay ahead of the rest of the pack, you’ll need to both understand and keep track of: up and coming trends, new features in search tools and products, your audience, and the latest technological advances. Luckily, there are professionals who can help you out.

When it comes to your business, it’s virtually impossible to achieve success without a good internet presence. Having a sleek logo and a beautiful website will draw people to you, but you also need high quality content in order to make them stay. A beautiful website can only do so much if your content writing is subpar. Having well-written content is essential for growing your business online.

While it may seem as though content writing is something anyone can do, there’s a reason why so many businesses outsource their content writing to professionals. Here’s what you need to know about how professional content writing helps businesses.

#1. Save Timecontent writing helps businesses

If you’re not already familiar with how to write content for a website and content that both Google and potential clients will approve of, you’ll greatly benefit from hiring a professional content writer. Rather than spending valuable time trying to learn, having professionals do the content writing for you will help save you time. Even if you do know how to write content for websites, chances are, if you’re starting a business, there’s a lot on your plate. Outsourcing will allow you to focus on other aspects of your business and ensuring customer satisfaction.

#2. Improve Readership

Too often, you’ll find websites with very minimal content. While this can work in some cases, in most, people want to actually learn about what it is you offer and what services you can provide. If they don’t find that, they’ll click away. Professional writers know how to write about what you do in a way that matches your business’s personality and answers your customers’ questions.

When you use content writers for your business, you’ll be able to have website content that isn’t just merely readable, but actually informative and written in a way for people to want to share it and come back to your website to learn more. Content writing helps businesses by boosting their website content’s readership with content that people want to read and learn more from.

#3. Increase Google RankingCore Web Vitals

Even if you are a fantastic writer, that doesn’t necessarily mean your website content will rank well on Google search results. This is because content writing isn’t just about writing itself, it’s also about optimizing for SEO and integrating keywords in a natural way. Content writers know how to create engaging content that also ranks well, improving your business’s Google ranking. You don’t want a beautifully written article that research went into to go unseen. Content writers utilize their knowledge of Google and SEO to boost your viewership, so that the content on your website will get read.

For example, did you know that Google penalizes copied content or content that isn’t up to its standards? It’s true. Fresh, original content that has images, an appropriate amount of internal and external links and keyword usage, and meets word count requirements does better because it shows Google that your content writing is relevant, and thus, Google ranks your website higher in search engine results. Content writing helps businesses a lot through working with current and ever-changing SEO standards and strategies to make sure you get seen.

#4. Create A Brand Voice

You know when you click onto a site and can immediately get a sense of what working with that business would probably be like? Content writing plays a big role in this. Some people like their website content to be both fun and professional, so you might have some sass sprinkled into the cold hard facts. Others want a more chatty tone, while others prefer to stick with a professional voice.

Content writers can work to match the voice of your existing content or with you in order to come up with one that is right for you, your business, and your targeted audience. It’s important in content writing to consider both the business and the target audience, because that affects the tone of your writing. Content writing helps businesses by creating a brand voice for your company that suits it and its goals.

#5. Bring Life To Your Site

Standards of what makes a website good are constantly changing. What looked good a decade ago looks terrible now. It’s important to stay on top of the ever-changing trends. Content writing is no exception. Your content should be informative, engaging, and optimized, but not bulky or sparse. Websites that have a good amount of content and blogs that are written to standard will garner more traffic, because people will want to stay on your site to click around and learn more.

Google is constantly rolling out updates to their SEO algorithms. One consistent way that you might have heard in order to maintain SEO success in the long run is through utilizing the E-A-T principle. E-A-T is fairly divisive in the SEO community. There are those who say it’s an SEO fundamental, and then there are those who say it really doesn’t matter for your rankings at all. Let’s take a look into what E-A-T does and what Google has to say about whether or not it really matters for the SEO rankings of your website.

What Is E-A-T?

e-a-t

Sometimes known as page quality, E-A-T is what Google says that every page needs in order to be high quality, and is what human evaluators use in order to determine how relevant a page is to the search results for its keywords. Basically, E-A-T is what Google uses in order to determine just how legitimate the information on your site is, by ensuring that all of the content on it is made with expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness.

It mostly applies to websites that fall into the “Your Money, Your Life” (YMYL) category, aka “future happiness, health, financial stability, or safety,” as Google defines it. So essentially, sites that are medical, legal, financial, that give advice about important topics, and likely sites that sell products. If people need to be able to trust you and know that the information on your site matches what your site is about, you need to ensure you take E-A-T into consideration in order to be a high-quality site. After all, you wouldn’t trust information about medications on a clothing site, would you?

How Is E-A-T Evaluated?

While expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness may sound like interchangeable terms, the differences are important.

E = Expertise

Expertise means that you have a high level of knowledge and skill in a certain field, that you are an expert in it. When people search for content with expertise, they’re looking for content that was made by an expert in that field. For some websites, this is more important than others. For example, when it comes to the medical, legal, or financial fields, you’ll want that information to come from a certified professional. Some websites are able to have their content written by someone who is not an expert in the field, so long as it is approved and verified to be true and accurate by someone who is.

In some cases, expertise isn’t defined by the amount of formal education that someone has had in a field, but rather their life experiences. One such instance of this would be someone writing about what it’s like to live with a disease, or someone writing about something that they have a lot of experience with, which isn’t in the medical, legal, or financial fields.

A = Authoritativeness

Authoritativeness refers to your reputation and how likely people are to use you as a source of information. You may claim that you are an expert in your field, but Google needs to be able to back this up. It does this by looking to see your rating, how often people go to you for information, how trustworthy said information it is, and making sure that it’s not just you claiming you have authority on a certain topic, but that other people agree with that statement and utilize you as a source of information. For example, if exterior authoritative sites link out to yours, this tells Google that you’re a reputable source of information, and they’ll rank your site higher.Bad Google Review

T = Trustworthiness

This refers to just how trustworthy your entire website is from who is writing the content to the content itself to the site as a whole. You want your site to be legit, accurate, and transparent. You need your information to be fact-based, not opinion-based, and to cite other established trustworthy sites within your content. Linking out to a .gov or .org or brand site is a great way to do this. If you mention dental work, linking to the ADA (American Dental Association) tells people that they can trust what you said.

Is E-A-T Actually Important?

It is important, especially when it comes to information that impacts people’s lives. You want your content to be accurate and true to avoid misleading people and resulting in real-life consequences. While E-A-T isn’t something that can be directly measured, like say, how many times keywords pop up in your website content, it is utilized to promote high quality, original content.

If you’ve worked in SEO, chances are that you’ve heard the phrase: “Content is king.” This means that creating high quality content is essential in order for your website to rank better, as if your site just repeats what others say, if it has information that doesn’t match what the site is about, if it isn’t trustworthy and people don’t go to you for information, your website won’t rank well. E-A-T is a guideline that gives insight into what high quality content means.

So, while E-A-T isn’t something that can be directly measured, it can impact your SEO ranking. E-A-T provides SEO professionals with a way to inform their content making process in order to ensure that the content they make is high quality that people will be able to turn to and trust, and ergo can potentially boost your SEO rankings.

What Is Press Release Writing?

A press release is a statement to the public that provides information or is making an announcement. Press releases are often created with the intention of engaging with a company’s audience in some way. It is important that press releases are professionally written and are appropriate for the situation. Press release writers use press releases to help companies get more information out to the masses about their company, about new products, and about new services that they are offering. Press releases are also used to address rumors and issues that are brought up against a company. A good press release will not only be professional and to the point, but will also uphold a company’s reputations and values.

Why Companies Need Press Release Writing Services

Professional press release writers can not only express a company’s message, but can also help the information that is being relayed be more accessible and more visible to the public. Although public relations professionals can often find words that will make a company sound great, a press release writer can do even more by not only finding the words to describe a company’s good character but also helping those words reach many more ears.

It is valuable to contact a press release writing service because they can help you create press releases that can help your company in so many ways. A press release written by a press release writer can help you strengthen your brand image. A well written press release that is aimed at certain audiences can also help you gain more customers and revenue. Content is an extremely important addition to your website. Having compelling and consistent content will cause your website traffic to skyrocket with users coming back to your website more often and for longer periods of time. There are many different types of content including blogs, videos, and photos.

You may ask yourself: “Blogs? I thought those were those write-ups where people complained about their neighbors online?” Yes, there are still blogs where people journal their personal experiences, but these days blogs are used for much more. In fact, according to HubSpot, 60% of people read a blog once a week. This is because blogs have many functions including providing information to readers.

Now to answer the overarching question; is blogging dead in 2021? The simple answer is no. You’re reading this blog right? However, the purpose of blogs and the way they are written is constantly changing. Blogs have many purposes and are useful tools for content creators and businesses.

Blogs Create Connections

Blogs are a great way to make closer connections with your customer base. This is because you are speaking directly to the customer and they can respond with their own thoughts and opinions. With that said, it is important to be careful with your comment settings and be aware that if you allow for comments, the opinions that some users may post on your page may not be to your liking. But if you are creating content that your target market wants to know, you will attract and keep users who are likely to become customers. Blogs are also a great way to create content for your social media platforms to connect to and vice versa.

Blogs Answer User’s Questions

Is Blogging Dead in 2021?

One of the big reasons that blogs are an important part of the content you put on your website is because they are an easy way to share your expertise and increase your credibility. You can answer user’s questions in a professional format or discuss your knowledge of your industry in an article targeted towards a new customer base.

Blogs are where Google and other search engines collect information about obscure or popular topics and are often where people can find information tailored to their specific needs. When you answer your customer base’s questions, you establish a reputation and authority in your industry.

Blogs Help Customers Learn About Your Products

Blogs in 2021 are often run by companies and businesses in hopes that people will click on their website to learn about a topic and then buy a product or service. This is a wonderful system because users are already searching for information about something that you are an expert on and will be more likely to buy from you when they decide to make a purchase in that area. Having a blog also allows you to speak to certain products or services that you have that are unique to your company that your target customer base may not be aware of.

Blogs Help You Rank Better on Search Engines

If a business has a website, it is important to rank on search engines. A ranking on a search engine is your spot on the list of websites that show up when a user enters in a search query. Website specialists use search engine optimization to increase a website’s ranking. It is important to use SEO because search engine optimization brings more users to your website which often leads to more conversions. One of the most important components to optimizing your website is to have great content that is relevant to user’s questions.

blog writing OgdenHave you established a company blog? A blog is an effective marketing tool for small business owners as it allows you to have a voice in your industry. You can finally keep customers informed about new products, conferences and events, job openings, and other news. Blogs help to reinforce branding with the customers by building trust and credibility. However, without the right SEO techniques, your blog may end up hurting your website ranking. Here are some things to avoid when blogging so you don’t end up destroying your reputation.

Avoid Keyword Stuffing

One common mistake people make when blogging is keyword stuffing. Keywords are a great way to help the search engines find your blog, but keyword stuffing can kill your blog. The content on your blog needs to be readable to gain the right attention. A great way to find keywords that are useful is by signing up for a Google Adwords account. This will help you narrow down the list of popular keywords for your market. One tip to remember with keywords is to select a few localized keywords to reach your local audience. Adding the city name, state, and zip code to your website can boost local rankings, and will help you reach out to the targeted customers. To maintain a balance of keywords, select a few and use them for your posts. Start by adding the keyword in the title, within the first paragraph, and last paragraph of the blog post to assist in boosting rankings. You might find that the keyword naturally integrates itself into the content with you actually adding it in there. This is the best practice for SEO success as you want the content to be natural, original, and engaging.

Create Original Content

The search engines have started to crack down on duplicate content. If you are not creating unique, original blog posts, your blog will suffer. Take the time to create new blog posts that are different from all the recycled content on the internet. You need to express your point of view on different trends related to your industry. This can get the customers to leave comments and really start a discussion trend. When you start showing customers you have a voice, it will distinguish your company from others in the industry. Create goals for your blog so your customers will have a desire to read it weekly. Remain active with your posting and place new content on the blog 2-4 times a week to show the search engines it is an active blog.

Effective Marketing

It is common to see companies spend too much time trying to market a blog, and failing to market their website. A blog is a marketing tool that will boost interest in your company, but your main goal is to point people to your website where they can purchase products. Use the blog as a way to get people to sign-up for email lists and other promotional offers. Use social media sites to help build trust and credibility with the customers. A blog will assist in reinforcing branding that you have already set in motion. You must be accurate and honest with the information posted on the blog and social media accounts to effectively market to the customers.

Hire Professional Writers

One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to write content they do not understand. We have seen a lot of people outsource content to freelancers, some without any experience in their industry. Hiring a professional team of professional writers is the best way to ensure the information you are posting on your blog relates to your audience. One of the best ways to focus on gathering new leads, reassuring your existing customer base of your knowledge, and expanding your reputation can be done with a quality content marketing strategy. With so many blogs and articles posted daily, what can be done to help your content stand out above the rest? You might also be asking yourself if writing blogs even remains relevant to your website. Here are some interesting things you need to know about the benefits of content marketing.

Strengthening Your Brand

Keeping your website ranking can be challenging if you are not adding new content on a regular basis. You see Google wants to know what new things and information your business has to share with everyone. They want to see content that is valuable and engaging to your readers. Writing interesting blogs is just one way to enhance your brand!

Generating Website Conversions

When you have quality content that actually educates and engages the reader, you have a higher conversion rate. In fact, content marketing conversion rates are 6 TIMES higher than other online marketing methods.

Optimized Content Ranks Higher

Taking the time to implement correct SEO methods into your content will make a massive difference in ranking your website. Certain elements like adding an ALT tag to an image will help Google to read the content on your website easier, allowing them to rank you higher.

Low Cost Lead Gathering

When you compare the cost of paying for content marketing services to other online marketing efforts, content is king. For costs of less than 62% from traditional marketing to 3 times the amount of leads, there is no question that content marketing is what’s currently working!

One important element to remember is that content takes TIME! You do not want to rush the content just to get it online. Content needs to be well-researched, and needs to bring value and new insights to your industry and customers. It is vital to hire out this service if you do not have in-house writers capable of meeting content standards.
